Metal guards were removed from a power pole at Masonite Road, Tomago, in the early hours of Tuesday morning and copper earth cables connecting underground wires to 33,000-volt overhead powerlines were taken.
It came after 500 metres of cable was cut down from 33,000-volt overhead powerlines at Awaba Road, Toronto West, on Saturday morning.
It’s understood no-one was injured and police are investigating.
Ausgrid Chief Operating Officer Trevor Armstrong said the thefts were “incredibly dangerous”.
“This could have ended tragically for those involved, no amount of copper is worth your life,” he said.
“One of the damaged wires came close to falling across Awaba Road, which connects to the M1, so we were very fortunate that no-one was injured.”
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
