Smith’s Broadmeadow racecourse operation was raided by Racing NSW stewards after two irregular swabs were taken from horses he trained.
Smith’s case was adjourned but he has already pleaded guilty to providing false evidence to stewards on Tuesday morning. He did not enter a plea to a charge of refusing to provide evidence.
“The particulars of the charge being that he refused to give evidence by not providing the name/s of the persons who supplied him with the unlabelled and/or unregistered and/or unidentifiable products found in his possession,” stewards reported.
It also said a number of unlabelled and/or unregistered and/or unidentifiable substances were seized by the stewards and investigators obtained from Smith’s stables, vehicle and residence. All substances have been sent for analysis.
Smith’s mobile telephone and laptop computer were confiscated for the purposes of forensic imaging.
Everest runner In Her Time, owned by Newcastle’s Peter Brown, is set to resume in the Premiere Stakes. El Dorado Dreaming is down to come back in the group 2 Tea Rose Stakes at Randwick on Saturday and will now start after the transfer to Lees, who also has stables on-course at Newcastle.
