IN REPLY to Steve Barnett (Short Takes 29/9), I agree with Mr Barnett. There’s nothing wrong with sardines on toast. The operator is not there to comment on tastes.
Colin Atkins, Wyong
IT SEEMS you can say pretty much anything you like to our favourite butcher Steve Barnett (Short Takes 29/9), but never ever criticise his sardines.
Mac Maguire, Charlestown
I HAVE to agree with Steve Barnett (Short Takes 2/10). Neither age, race or gender excuse someone for attacking innocent people going about their daily business.
Colin Fordham, Lambton
I DON’T know what it cost for a ticket to the AFL grand final on Saturday, but to be there and see the look on Eddie McGuire 's face after the game would have been worth any price of admission.
Barry Reed, Islington
RICHARD Ryan (Letters 1/10) says the rumour is that Andrew Bolt wants to be chairman of the ABC. In my opinion the ABC doesn’t even need a chairman because these days it is run by left-wing journalists.
Jim Gardiner, New Lambton
AS A BORN and bred Novocastrian, I just can't believe that a government could construct a tram line only metres away from a serious rail corridor, which is going to cause a ridiculous amount of congestion in our city into the future. How could this happen, even though two consecutive sitting governments were needed to cut a train line? Stunned & dismayed.
John Sylvester, Wallsend
STEVE Weatherstone (Letters 2/9): well said. It seems "revitalisation" is all show and no go, even to the toilet.
Graeme Tychsen, Rankin Park
SO, UNOFFICIAL third referee Cameron Smith is upset the crowd were booing Billy Slater? Maybe he should just be thankful that they weren't booing him.
Matt Ophir, Charlestown
ANDREW Constance believes he has helped the people in the Hunter with ruining Hunter Street and the businesses. At one count they had 7760 signatures against the light rail. The money from the port should have stayed here instead of going to Sydney. It should have been spent on a retaining wall outside the child care centre and the surf club at Stockton, and also our hospitals.
George Tattersell, New Lambton
THE unbelievable acts that have come to light following the banking royal commission can’t be claimed as human error or just bad conduct. A financial penalty is not sufficient. I think there have got to be prosecutions. My solution is to send them to Nauru and get a bit of value for it, and the satisfaction of knowing that at last we are sending guilty people there.
Allan Earl, Thornton
