Some areas of the Upper Hunter received no rain at all on Wednesday, despite heavy falls over the Hunter coast throughout the day.
More than 15mm of rain fell at the Williamtown and Nobbys weather stations from 9am until late afternoon, but at Merriwa and Scone there was none.
Less than 5mm fell at Singleton and Maitland, while on the Central Coast Gosford and Norah Head received more than 50mm.
The Bureau of Meteorology said rain was expected to ease in parts of the Lower Hunter on Thursday, but there was a chance of light showers across most of the Hunter on Friday and Saturday. Less than 5mm was predicted.
