Energy efficient street lights for Newcastle, Lake Mac, Singleton
Energy provider Ausgrid is ready to start rolling out energy-efficient LED lamps to replace street lights across the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Singleton local government areas.
As part of the switch, 5609 lights will be changed at Lake Macquarie, 5213 at Newcastle and 933 at Singleton.
“These new LEDs are more energy efficient, easier to maintain and will last up to 20 years,” Chief Operating Officer Trevor Armstrong said.
“It can take up to 95 watts to power older streetlights whereas the new LEDs use just 17 watts.”
