The CityServe program links volunteers with community organisations to complete odd jobs throughout the month of October.
This year’s projects included refurbishing Toronto Childcare Centre’s cubbyhouse, digging a new garden at Charlestown East Public School and painting the clubhouse at Barton Oval in Belmont.
CityServe chairman Rick Prosser said there was so much interest in CityServe this year projects were running into November.
“The little becomes a lot and our community is strengthened by it,” he said.
Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser thanked those who had participated.
“CityServe participants set an example for us all to follow – giving up their own time to help others and make our city a better place,” she said.
