The 25-year-old hopes it arrives soon – his Asian Tour card hinges on it.
Higginbottom, from Charlestown, will tee up in the $400,000 NSW Open starting Thursday, followed by the $1.25m Australia Open at The Lakes next week.
He then heads overseas for the Hong Kong Open, Mauritius Open, South African Open and Indonesia Masters for the final stage of the Asian Tour.
Higginbottom sits 67th on the money list with $51,706 US and anticipates he will need to pick up $25,000 US in prize money to force his way into the top 60 and retain his status for next year.
“Hong Kong, Mauritius and Johannesburg are co-sanctioned with Europe and worth $2m, $1.25m and $1.25m,” Higginbottom said. “Hopefully I can have a couple of solid weeks and I’ll be good to go. It has been a funny year. I feel like I have played pretty solid but have missed a lot of cuts by one stroke or have been playing well but finished 30th or 25th - mid pack. I haven’t had that one week which sets you up for the year. It is frustrating. But if you look at it positively, it feels like there is something just around the corner. Hopefully it can arrive in the next few weeks.”
Higginbottom shot rounds of 73,69,67,71 at Twin Creeks last year to finish a tied for 27th.
His best results on the Asian Tour this year have been 11th at the Yeangder TPC in Tawain last month and tied for 13th at the Thai Open in June. “I’m really looking forward to the next couple of weeks,” he said. “I have played a couple of NSW Opens at Twin Creeks and we used to have State (amateur) training here. I enjoy playing the course and hopefully I can make a few birdies.”
