CRL Newcastle representative Isabelle Kelly has received the women’s inaugural Golden Boot award as the world’s best female rugby league player for 2018.
Kelly, 22, has been outstanding at club, national and international level during the last 12 months and was recognised for her efforts in England on Thursday morning (ADST).
The centre scored match-winning tries for NSW and the Jillaroos this season after starring in Australia’s World Cup win on home soil last year.
She also played for the Sydney Roosters in the maiden NRL Women’s premiership and finished September’s decider despite being injured.
Kelly’s other individual accolades this year include the Nellie Doherty Medal for best on ground in State of Origin and the Blues top women’s prize at the Brad Fittler Medal presentation.
During the voting period she donned the NSW Country jersey at the first national women’s tournament on the Gold Coast.
Kelly, who played for North Newcastle in last year’s state competition, got the Rugby League International Federation gong in front of fellow nominees Georgia Roche, Honey Herime, Ali Brigginshaw and Brittany Breayley.
The men’s Golden Boot award went to English and St Helens winger Tommy Makinson.
