A MAN who threatened a magistrate, abused a police prosecutor and then got into a heated argument with a random punter in the public gallery while he was being refused bail on Wednesday appeared before the same magistrate the next day where he delivered a similar outburst and demanded to be sentenced.

Jason Gourley, who was on parole until May, 2019, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with two counts of possessing stolen goods relating to two car keys. He appeared in Newcastle Local Court in handcuffs on Wednesday where he applied for bail.
But when it became clear that his application was going to be unsuccessful, Gourley got to his feet and instructed Corrective Services officers to take him back to the cells downstairs.

“If I see you on the street I'll cave your f---ing head in, you mutt,” Gourley told Magistrate David Price.
But Mr Price told the officers to leave Gourley where he was. “You can listen to this,” the magistrate told him.
Gourley continued to abuse him before turning his frustration towards the police prosecutor, who had opposed his release, and a man in the public gallery, who he said had been “staring” at him.
“I’ll get out one day,” he told the man, who was threatened with being ejected from the court for jawing back at Gourley.
Mr Price refused Gourley bail until Thursday, when he re-appeared back in court on the audio visual link from jail in a similar mood.
He pleaded guilty to both counts of possessing stolen goods and demanded to be sentenced.
But Mr Price said it was in Gourley’s best interests for him to obtain a report and adjourned the matter until December 6 for sentence.
“You either sentence me now or you don't sentence me at all,” Gourley screamed.
