Ive said it before, and Ill say it again, everything I worry about is not worth worrying about.
But how’s it go again? Tell a lie once, it’s a lie. Tell it a thousand times, it’s a political campaign. And make it a big lie.
Its an effective circuit breaker in the Age of Bewilderment, particularly if you tend to get all riled up about stuff.
Like when people dont respond to texts, even though you text them a dozen time to text back.
Or you get hot under the collar about algae in the pool, just as the heat wave strikes.
Or you listen to the news every day and start thinking the worlds gone mad.
Fake news of course, if you buy the Donald Trump line.
Which, if I could afford it, I would, but then at what cost?
Donald Trump banging on about the mid-term elections and how American voters should do something unique like vote.
To make America safe and great again. Nothing new about slogans. But mobilising militias to join the armed forces on the border to turn back the criminals? That does seem a bit worrying. The refugees are not a caravan says Donald, theyre an invasion.
Could be wacko, could be Waco.
But hows it go again? Tell a lie once, its a lie. Tell it a thousand times, its a political campaign. And make it a big lie.
Then you remind yourself that everything you worry about is not worth worrying about. Particularly Donald.
Because Australia is not America.
Although Scottie Morrisons having a good crack.
Listening and hearing his way up through Queensland.
Getting in touch with the people by skolling beers, eating pies, being fair dinkum. Is he for real? His Twitter feeds beg the question.
Then you find out no, ScoMos not actually riding the bus.
He and his advisors are flying between destinations, at tax payers expense. Almost reassuring really. Makes you want to get off the bus, though, if you ever got on it.
Come next election, the Libs will be under it.
Not that I try to worry too much about politics, because as stated at the start, things I worry about arent worth worrying about.
Which was a relief when I heard Mark Latham had joined One Nation. Because that would be a real worry, if it wasnt such a joke.
Some might call it putting your head in the sand these days, but do that these days and youre likely to find bodies.
Look at the Labor Party. Look at the Libs. Look at Saudi Arabia.
Actually you wont find anything over there because they cut people up and dissolve them in acid.
Which leads to a major blind spot of the Everything you worry about aint worth worrying about theory.
That being, some things you dont worry about, end up being worth worrying about.
Working out which is the trick.
But in accordance with the theory, if that worries you, its not worth worrying about.
