AMERICAN emo band The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will dedicate a song on their upcoming Australian tour to murdered woman Toyah Cordingley in the hope it raises awareness to catch her killer.
Cordingley’s body was discovered at Wangetti Beach, north of Cairns, on October 22, a day after the 24-year-old was reported missing. On Monday her parents made an emotional plea for information that might lead to her killer’s arrest.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ 2006 track Your Guardian Angel was Cordingley’s favourite song and her long-time phone ringtone.
After The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ tour manager made the Florida band aware of Cordingley’s death, lead singer Ronnie Winter designed a new lyric video for the song.
“This lyric video will stand as a living memorial for those we have lost along the way,” Winter said.
“If you know someone who has passed and this song was special to them feel free to leave their story in the comment thread or a simple name and date of passing to have them remembered and thought of by all.’’
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ Newcastle all-ages show is at Club Azzurri on December 1.
