Joseph Price returns to an almost unchanged Newcastle representative squad this weekend following an impressive all-round performance for club side Wests.
Price belted 107 and took 7-49 in the same two-day match earlier this month and will line-up for the Steel in Sunday’s NSW Premier T20 Cup double header against Mosman (10am) and Sydney (2:30pm) at Waratah Oval.
“I’ve been following Joey’s career for quite a while and that’s the first 100 and five-for [wickets] I can remember in the same game,” Newcastle coach Shane Burley said.
“So it’s always handy having him around, but he’s coming off a pretty good game. I think he adds confidence to the other boys as well.”
Price and Wallsend’s Jacob Montgomery were both injured and missed the Steel’s first-up win over Greater Illawarra at North Dalton Park on November 4.
The remaining 12 players were picked again.
Price, player of the tournament at last season’s Australian Country Championships, stepped down from longer form commitments with Newcastle this summer.
“It’s a reduced workload for him,” Burley said.
Price also spent the off-season playing in England.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s former representative cricketers have been invited along to celebrate “old boys day”.
