
TOP NAME Indie-soul artist Meg Mac has some serious fans in Newcastle as seen when she sold out her first and only show at the Cambridge Hotel two and a half months in advance last year. Mac will return to Newcastle on May 10 and has been promoted to the larger Bar On The Hill. The 28-year-old will perform her latest single Give Me My Name Back, plus songs from her forthcoming second album.
DOUBLE BILL Californian punk rockers The Story So Far will team up with British emo lads Basement for a co-headline Australian tour in April. The run includes a show at the Cambridge Hotel on April 20.
IRISH CHARM Fans of traditional classics like Finnegan’s Wake, In The Gloaming, Song For Ireland, Danny Boy, The Dutchman, Caledonia, and You Raise Me Up are in luck. The world renown Celtic Tenors are headed to Wests New Lambton on June 5 for their The Irish Songbook Tour. The current line-up features Daryl Simpson, James Nelson and Matthew Gilsenan.
GOODLUCK Newcastle guitarist Adam Miller and his jazz singer wife Holly Clayton will relocate to Los Angeles in January to follow their musical dreams. Miller has a host of local shows remaining before his farewell gig on January 15 at the Grand Hotel.
REPEAT Congratulations to the Cambridge Hotel who this week won back-to-back gongs for the best live music venue at the Australian Hotels Association NSW Awards for Excellence. The Newcastle West venue has provided ample opportunities for local bands on its warehouse stage, while maintaining a constant flow of major acts in the main room.
