More than 100 secondary students from the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle were selected in NSW Combined Catholic Colleges teams in 2018.

Further representative honours were achieved with five students named for NSW All Schools.
They include basketball players Alex Clinton and Rosanna Jennings from St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton; cross country runner Liam Dixon from All Saints College, Maitland; hockey player Harry Wade from St Clare’s, Taree; and water polo player Emma Preece from San Clemente, Mayfield.
Rugby league has always been a strength in our region and this year the Diocese was proud to have three talented boys named for Australian representative honours.
They were Jock Madden and Timana Alexander from All Saints College, Maitland and Jonah Pezet from St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead.
The primary Diocesan tennis trials were held last Friday with Ella McLeod, Ava Corbett, Nina Amidy, Tanatswa Mureverwi, Thomas McCullough Hendriks, Oscar Hibbert, Aydin Hope and Liam Hurst named in the team.
