Chief financial officer Simon Gelder and Executive manager, legal services Michael Dowzer resigned on December 21.
In an email to staff Port of Newcastle chief executive Craig Carmody said both men had played key leadership roles in the establishment of the new business and managed many challenges.
“Micheal and Simon have always acted with dedication, integrity and with a focus on the best interests of the port,” Mr Carmody wrote in an email to staff.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Simon and Michael for their contribution.”
A Port of Newcastle spokesman said the organisation did not comment on internal matters.
Mr Gelder said the Port of Newcastle had come a long way since November 2014.
“I have enjoyed every moment of the journey made possible by the hard work and dedication of the whole team working together,” he said in a message to staff.
“In both the finance and IT areas we have increased the skills and capabilities of these teams to form a solid foundation to build and take the business forward. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved.”
Mr Dowzer said he had enjoyed the 15 years he had spent working for the Newcastle Port Corporation and later the Port of Newcastle.
“For many of you who I have had the opportunity to supervise over the years, thank you for your skill, your hard work, your good humour, your camaraderie and most of all your patience,” he said.
