WHAT a disgrace all you politicians are regarding the PFAS disaster ('Boiling point', Newcastle Herald, 14/5). These people of Williamtown have had their lives turned upside down and not one of the main parties has given them any hope of a solution. What has happened to the Labor party caring for the "ordinary " people in our society? Shame on you all.

JOHN Arnold (Short Takes, 13/5) you forgot the one achievement Rudd and Gillard will always be remembered for - their handling of money. This came to mind as I was shaking breadcrumbs through a sieve at work, just like Labor with the surplus - a few shakes and the crumbs were gone. See you in the breadline. If big Bill gets in, get down.

I MUST take a special sort of intellect to be wooed by that soporific over inflated barrel of conceited self interest named Clive Palmer. Pity help the country if he gains any leverage over our next government.

I THINK Scott needs a good brickie (Pope's View, Herald, 14/5).

TO Colin Geatches (Short Takes, 14/5), so what you are saying is what the soft left wing wants that is, that nobody can say anything as whatever is said in this ridiculous day and age is offensive to someone. These imbeciles are turning this country into an absolute joke. We are heading straight down the path of the communist-style pathetic green tree-hugging good for nothing do-gooders, there is only one line being crossed and that's the line of insanity.
Brad Hill, Singleton
IN reply to Colin Geatches (Short Takes 14/5). You're right Colin. Israel Folau has made his bed, he'll now have to lay in it.

"HARD working Australian families": How many times have you heard a politician say those words? Kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy doesn't it? But hold on a minute, if you listen to the screams and whines coming from the government and the silver tails now they are only talking about those that after receiving concessions all their working life still want all the frills now in tough times even though it is unsustainable, when reform is suggested. If you are one of the majority that has worked hard all your life but never had the opportunity to take advantage to put yourself in a position of being self reliant - sorry they aren't talking about you.
Allan Earl, Beresfield
SCOTT Morrison's public comments on economic management are, to my mind, a good example of the Dunning-Kruger effect (look it up). People who are incompetent in a given area lack the competence to realise that they are incompetent.

DOES your party's stated plans for preference deals make you reconsider voting for them?
