KIRRA Eagles’ decision to wait more than a year to debut her dress on a special occasion has paid off, after she was named winner of the annual Newcastle Hot 100 competition.
Readers chose Ms Eagles, 21, from an online gallery of 100 Boxing Day Races attendees as wearing the best fashions on the field.
“I’m very excited,” said Ms Eagles, who relocated from Townsville at the start of 2018 after flipping a coin between the Gold Coast and Newcastle.
“I didn’t feel I had much of a chance – it makes me feel like this is really home now.”
Ms Eagles said several friends and relatives voted from Queensland.
“I feel like the dress deserves the credit,” she said.
Ms Eagles bought the Bec + Bridge garment in November 2017 and originally planned to wear it to the Townsville Cup.
“I loved how unique and different it was – I have not seen a dress similar.”
Ms Eagles won a $50 gift voucher for Belmont 16s and six grandstand tickets to see the Newcastle Jets play the Central Coast Mariners on January 23, 2019.
