MAKING NOISE Sacramento screamo band Dance Gavin Dance will be kicking up their heels at the Small Ballroom on March 1. The five-piece released their eighth album Artificial Selection last year and recently recorded a cover of Third Eye Blind’s 1997 smash Semi-Charmed Life.
ROGER THAT Alejandro Escovedo’s Newcastle live debut has gotten even more appealing. The American-Mexican rock chameleon has invited legendary You Am I frontman Tim Rogers to accompany him for his March 5 show at Lizotte’s. The 68-year-old Escovedo has previously performed with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, David Hidalgo and Lucinda Williams, so Rogers is joining esteemed company.
SUGAR HIT Forster’s indie-pop artist Jack River teamed up with electro heavyweights Peking Duk to release a collaborative single on Friday. Sugar is poppy as the name suggests and you suspect it’ll be receiving plenty of radio attention.
GIVING A HOOT Newcastle-Wollongong punk band Jacob will perform for their biggest ever audience after they were added to the Farmer & The Owl festival line-up.
The March 2 show takes place at Wollongong’s McCabe Park and includes American dream pop band Beach House, surf-rockers Hockey Dad and Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis.
