PolAir, Police Rescue and the Marine Area Command have been called in to help with the search.
Mr Fenwick, aged 33, was last seen about 2.30am Thursday when he was walking with a woman near the intersection of Fullerton and Meredith streets, Stockton.
The woman left Mr Fenwick with plans to meet up later and police have been told he did not show up at an oval in Stockton as planned.

Officers from Newcastle Police District were notified about 6pm and a search commenced involving local police with assistance from the dog unit, but he was not located.
The search restarted at 8am Friday.
One of Mr Fenwick’s friends, who wanted to remain anonymous, urged people to be on the lookout. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black board shorts, a red cap and grey/blue thongs.
“We are missing you Feno, come home please,” she said.
Anyone with information or who sights Mr Fenwick should contact police immediately.
