AN elderly cyclist has suffered suspected head and spinal injuries following a crash involving two riders and a stick on the the Central Coast, emergency crews say.

A 75-year-old man was riding in Gosford West today when a stick reportedly became caught up in his wheel, causing him to fall, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said in a statement.
A second cyclist riding with the man then crashed into him, falling over the top of the him, the spokesperson said.
The first rider suffered suspected spinal and head injuries and was being flown to Royal North Shore Hospital for further treatment, the spokesperson said.
No details were yet available on the condition of the second cyclist.
