The 21-year-old seamer from England finished with figures of 5-21 off six overs as Wests ended up 5-52 at stumps on day one at Waratah Oval.
The fifth-placed Rosellas, who have already lost Joseph Price (9), Aaron Wivell (21) and captain James King (0), need a further 100 runs this weekend to secure first-innings points.
Josh Emerton (16 not out) and Edan Brichta (6 not out) are the unbeaten batsmen.
