Police are searching for a man who approached two young boys at Lambton as they were on their way to school on Tuesday.

The man, believed to be in his 40s or 50s, had his face covered when he approached the children, aged six and 10, as they were riding their bikes near Kentish Oval about 8.20am.
The boys fled, unharmed, and the incident was reported to Newcastle police, who launched an investigation.

The man was described as being of caucasian appearance with a solid build and brown eyes.
He was wearing denim jeans, a red hat, grey shirt and black face covering.
