Donnelly, from Perth, is on the verge of international stardom, with a world tour kicking off in March. Her breakout single, Boys Will Be Boys, confronts the rhetoric of sexual assault, as in victim blaming.
Sultan is also about to embark on a new tour, the Aviary Takes Tour, hitting regional Australia, with older, existing back catalogue songs and a smattering of new tracks including a couple of out-of-the-blue covers and fresh tunes stripped back and all recorded in ‘one vocal take’ at The Aviary Studio’s in inner city Melbourne.
This is Missy Higgins’ first tour since the release of her best of compilation, The Special Ones. Always a darling of the Australian music scene, she is a master of songwriting.
John Butler launched his latest album, Home, a very introspective work with a variety of styles, some of it much more chilled than the full-throttle rock in previous albums, last year and has been touring heavily across the US and Europe. This show offers the first chance for Hunter residents to hear his new material, which will surely be mixed with his huge bag of hits.
The foursome play the Sydney Opera House on Thursday night, before the big A Day on the Green show on Saturday at Pokolbin.
