Police said the woman's two-year-old son was in the car when she arrived at a school at Salamander Bay about 4.35pm on Monday.
A teacher called police after becoming concerned for the welfare of the mother and when officers arrived the woman allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.252.
Her licence was suspended and police have lodged a "child at risk" notification with Family and Community Services.
The woman will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on April 1.
