MUCH has been said about the demolishing and rebuilding of the Sydney Football Stadium, but the stadium has far too few toilet facilities for women but plenty for men. There are only about 30 places for wheelchairs, not the legislated 400. I believe there were no fire sprinklers and even the exits did not meet today's standards. I have been to the Sydney Football Stadium many times, and if you are seated in the top of the grandstand it can take 20 minutes plus to vacate the stadium. Could you imagine the uproar if there was a fire and lives were lost because of these shortcomings and a government that failed to act? I don't believe Labor's claims that they will stop this work. I think they plan to rebuild the SFS and it's only how it's financed that is different. This is in the same class of lies as the Mediscare campaign at the last federal election.

LEXIE Busby (Letters 16/3), in your haste to divert attention from your behaviour described in the letter you conveniently neglected to mention among the problems facing the world that breaking the speed limit is against the law and accounts for a large proportion of the road toll. What makes it worse is that you had your child in the car with you. What if you did have an accident and required our "inadequate" emergency services? Maybe you should just apologise profusely for your impaired judgement on this occasion
