Students lit candles and lay them before a New Zealand flag on Tuesday as part of their annual Week of Spiritual Emphasis program.
It involves senior students dedicating the first hour of each morning to a worship event, with student-led activities and a guest speaker expanding on a theme, which this year is Decided.
Year eight student Nada Alomary approached the worship team on Monday and requested an opportunity to address the school and share her feelings about the attack.
She spoke about love, humanity and the decision to live a life free from hate.
Macquarie College's student population reflects the diversity of the wider community. Of the school's 807 students, 34 students and their families practise Islam. About 62 per cent identify as Christian.
