Therese Daboussy opened retro fashion boutique Kiss Kiss Bang in Islington in early October, 2017 and has since established a niche Australia wide with her online business kisskissbangclothing.com.au.
Active in the rockabilly, rock and roll, vintage car and music community, Kiss Kiss Bang has customers from all over Australia, and keeps the profile high by attending major markets such as the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival, Chromefest and Sydney Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Market, bringing their gorgeous clothing to a wider audience.
"I have always been fascinated with the era of the 1950’s," Therese said. "I love the lifestyle, clothing, houses, cars, music, hairstyles and dancing of that time.
It was a dream of Therese's to turn this passion into a business and so, Kiss Kiss Bang began, which she runs with her daughter Sarah in collaboration with vintage hair and make-up artist Style By Divine, who works closely providing in-store styling.
"My idea was to mix actual vintage clothing and accessories as well as retro pieces to develop a unique store - where customers can find a 1950’s designer vintage hat, a Suzy Perette dress or a pair of vintage inspired dungarees," Therese said.
"Customers can enjoy an old-fashioned shopping experience and browse our great range while listening to awesome rockabilly or swing music, relax on the mid-century couch and read a 1950s magazine or watch the 1956 HMV television, running black and white movies."
Kiss Kiss Bang takes it to the next level by offering a unique styling experience: from hair and makeup to choosing the right accessories to match an outfit - customers can be styled from head to toe.
"We like to provide an amazing shopping experience and love our customers to enjoy the music, movies and soak up the atmosphere in store," Therese said. "We support headspace as our chosen charity and have run numerous fundraising events. We’ve also supported Islington Public School fundraising and we always have a tub of stock where 100 per cent of purchases are sent to charity."
