The bike rider, a 21-year-old man, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

UPDATE 11.30AM:
The motorcycle rider seriously injured in a crash at Mayfield this morning is undergoing surgery at John Hunter Hospital.
Police said the 21-year-old man from Noraville, on the Central Coast, sustained multiple critical injuries when his bike collided with a four wheel drive.
Traffic diversions on Industrial Drive, Mayfield, remain in place as forensic investigators look at the scene.
INITIAL REPORT
A MOTORBIKE rider is in a critical condition after a crash at Mayfield, which has closed westbound lanes on Industrial Drive.
The incident occurred just before 7am Friday. Emergency services were called to the scene of a high-speed motorbike and four-wheel-drive crash. The male bike rider, 21, was unconscious and suffering from several injuries when the four ambulance crews arrived on scene.
The man was treated for significant head and chest injuries, before he was rushed to John Hunter Hospital.
"The male motorcyclist has been taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition," Newcastle City police Inspector Shane Buggy said.
"Forensic services are helping with the investigation."
The driver of the vehicle has been taken for mandatory blood alcohol testing.
Diversions remain in place via Vine Street and police are expected to stay on scene for some time.
Motorists have been asked to reduce speed and exercise caution when travelling through the area. Commuters taking an alternative route down Maitland Road have also reported heavy traffic.
