Australian sculptor Patricia Piccinini's 34-metre, many-breasted "Skywhale" was a highlight of Roche Estate and Balloon Aloft's event, which was held to showcase hot air ballooning in the region.
Michelle Wills, the marketing manager of Balloon Aloft, said 7000 people descended on the vineyard to enjoy a night market, fireworks and balloon display featuring the fantastic creature.
"Everyone thought it was just amazing," Ms Wills said.
Balloon pilots were also involved in a choreographed light show.
"All of the pilots had iPads, which let them know exactly what time to light up their own particular balloon in time to the music," Ms Wills said.
Balloon Aloft hosted its first Night Glow in the Hunter Valley in 2017. Ms Wills said the company "hopes to do it all over again" in 18 months time.
The Skywhale hot air balloon was originally commissioned for the Centenary of Canberra in 2013, and has since traveled to Tokyo, Brazil and Ireland.
