A crane crashed at Hexham earlier Monday afternoon, causing heavy traffic approaching Hexham Bridge on the New England Highway from around 1pm.

The crash was cleared around 2.45pm, but traffic remained heavy in the area through the afternoon.
LiveTraffic NSW reported drivers is passing the scene slowly, where the rig has fallen into a ditch by the road.
Drivers in the area have been advised to allow extra time.
It is understood Roads and Maritime Services are attending the scene.
There have been no reports of injuries or road closures as a result of the crash.
