Just after 4am that morning, officers were called to the Hunter Expressway at Sawyers Gully after the same vehicle crashed into the wire road divider and a large metal sign.
The 26-year-old man and his passenger, a 21-year-old woman who owned the car, were found at the scene.
Police searched the car and also allegedly found a small amount of cannabis, drug implements and about $1600 cash.
Officers arrested the man and charged him with driving while suspended and having goods in custody.
He was refused bail at Cessnock local court on Thursday and will face Tamworth local court on May 8.
