Instead, he will let embarrassing footage of the side's humiliating loss to the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday tell the story.

"It's not about yelling and screaming at them," Brown said.

"It's about looking at the picture and [asking] what type of player do we want to be and what type of team do we want to be.

"We don't have to rocket them. It will be, there is the picture so what are you going to do about it and if you don't want to do something about it than that's obviously when you've got to look at changes."

Despite admitting a number of his players were guilty of failing to compete during the 38-14 loss to the Titans, Brown named the same 17 for the Eels clash.

But there could still be some changes to the squad with backrower Sione Mata'utia expected to return from a shoulder injury and centre Tautau Moga also under strong consideration.

With utility Kurt Mann still struggling to overcome his sternum injury, under pressure hooker Danny Levi will gain a reprieve while Connor Watson will again start in the halves alongside skipper Mitchell Pearce.

In the forward pack, Mata'utia and Daniel Saifiti could come under consideration for a starting role with prop James Gavet tipped to be benched after struggling for form in recent weeks.

Brown defended his decision not to wield the axe, claiming the secret to good coaching is getting the best out of your players.

"Making wholesale changes is not going to fix the area we got wrong on the weekend," he said.

"The whole art of coaching is getting the best out of the players you've got and many times over the years, we have seen people make wholesale changes and two weeks later, they bring the other blokes back in because generally, the other blokes are good players.

"You just have to get them playing well and playing with confidence.

"Mitchell's [Pearce] form on the weekend would suggest it was by far his most creative performance and if he keeps on keeping on, which I suspect he would and we can compete well, I don't think wholesale changes is what is needed.

"We have to remember what made it nearly work for us in the first four weeks and that's competing very hard and then the attack can come."

"If we get the compete bit right first, the confidence in attack will come over time but if you don't get the compete bit right, you get the situation we had on the weekend when things don't look nice."

The Eels are coming off a 51-6 thrashing of Wests Tigers and will have winger Blake Ferguson and possibly backrower Manu Ma'u returning from injury in a further boost.
