Closing the gap between Olympic's best and worst performance is the concern.

Indeed, Olympic were at their brilliant best in a 4-0 rout of Maitland at Darling Street Oval on Saturday.

Recent arrival Kent Harrison scored a brace and Jarryd Sutherland and Scott Pettit also netted goals.

The win was Olympic's fourth of the campaign and moved them to fourth place, however they have played two more games than most clubs.

"If you get the majority of your players having a good day, you generally get a good performance," McGuinness said. "We were awesome today.

"When you have a developing team like ours, the high and low of what they can perform can vary greatly.

"It's about closing the gap. We have to maintain our level of performance to be consistent."

Harrison opened OIympic's account from the penalty spot in the 14^th minute after Shinichi Kawachi was knocked over in the box.

Sutherland doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time after Matt Trott parried a Kawachi shot.

Any chance the visitors had of revival was crushed seven minutes into the second half when Harrison lifted a shot over Trott after Maitland failed to deal with a long ball.

Pettit then iced the win in the 68^th minute with a solo effort, skipping past two defenders and driving a low shot from the edge of the penalty box into the left corner.

"Kent likes to make forward runs and get in behind, and he loves to score," McGuinness said.

"He did really well today, but we had a lot of good players. Jakob Cresnar, at left back, deserves special praise. He is only 17 and had to mark Alex Read, an ex A-League player, Ryan Clarke and Joel Wood. He handled himself really well."
