Police allege a group of people armed with a shotgun attempted to gain entry to a house in Berringar Road, Valentine at 12.30am Saturday before they left.
A short time later police stopped two cars on Tallawalla Road.
A search of the vehicles allegedly revealed a shot gun matching the description of the one seen at the Berringar Road property. Several base ball bats were also found.
Seven men aged between 18 and 22 and two women aged 19 and 21 were arrested.
They were charged with attempt to commit an indictable offence and affray.
Three of the men were refused bail in Newcastle court on Sunday and will reappear on Monday.
Another two men were bailed to appear Wednesday. Two men and a woman were bailed to appear on Wednesday 22 May. The second woman was bailed to appear on May 29.
