In a nutshell, it's a 600-square-metre social hub with interactive games, a 40-tap beer experience (called a tap room) and an American-inspired menu. The Kotara model will be emulated in other states and locations by Rockpool.
Beerhaus, expected to open in June, will accommodate 340 customers - including 90 in a heated outside beer garden.
In addition to beer tastings and food, there will be games such as shuffleboard, table tennis, pinball machines, giant Jenga and Connect Four, mini basketball, Skee Ball, cornhole and a media wall of large-screen televisions with real-time sports and entertainment viewing.
The large, rooftop, warehouse-style space will have a soaring ceiling and post-industrial look and feel. It will incorporate materials and textures in keeping with a casual, urban vibe including polished concrete, exposed red-brick walls, washed wall murals and corrugated finishings.
The bar is the hero, with high-stool seating for 20 guests and a glass stein chandelier.
There will be 40 taps of Australian, German and premium international beers, including a showcase by US craft-brewing pioneer Goose Island. Goose Island will occupy a dedicated section of the bar and rotate eight, always-on, seasonal brews.
Rockpool Dining Group predicts Beerhaus has created 40 to 50 full-time and casual positions. Positions to be filled include restaurant managers, chefs and casual wait-staff. Applications are now being taken.
