Vince Di Prinzio, who owns Di Prinzio Concreting, and wife Christina bought an original three-bedroom cottage at 540 The Esplanade, Warners Bay in 2011.
They were drawn to "the location, the size of land and proximity to the waterfront".
After knocking down the existing home they enlisted an architect to design their dream residence.
"Our brief was that we wanted a five-bedroom home," Mr Di Prinzio told Domain. "It had to have a big garage, a media/games room and big, open plan living."

Completed in February of last year, the result is a contemporary masterpiece.
An entertaining area, built on the front of the home to take advantage of the lake views, overlooks an in-ground swimming pool and has been a much-used and much-loved feature.
There are polished concrete and Merbau timber flooring, three-metre ceilings, a luxurious master suite with lake views, automated gate entry and a Sonos sound system.
It is being marketed by The Agency's Cveta Kolarovski and is set for auction on July 6.
The Di Prinzios have bought a small acreage on Warners Bay Road.
