Prime movers in truck dealerships

CONVENIENCE: The expanded warehouse and parts department at Gilbert & Roach covers an area of over 800m squared with a supermarket-style display.

BIG OPERATION: Gilbert & Roach Hexham has 70 employees and services an area encompassed by Newcastle, Port Stephens, Taree, and Scone to Gosford.
Gilbert & Roach is a family-owned Kenworth and DAF truck dealership and has been operating out of their Hexham site at 320 Pacific Highway since 1984.
Owners have spent over $7million renovating the 3.77 hectare site and the facility is the most modern and largest in the Hunter.
The workshop has fifteen 30-metre long work bays, a 27-metre long advanced servicing pit, four detailing bays and two full wash bays.
"We have an upstairs customer lounge that overlooks the workshop so people can watch their vehicle getting worked on," Kenworth/DAF Dealer Principle Scott Medhurst said. "The lounge is equipped with free soft drinks fridge, cappuccino machine and Foxtel connected to a 106cm plasma television for their enjoyment."
The dealership has been designed from the ground up to allow not only service on the Kenworths and DAFs that Gilbert & Roach sell, but also any brand of truck or trailer.
"We also have four full-time auto electricians on site in our Electrical & Air-conditioning Department," Scott said.
"We also have expanded our parts department and have over 800 square metres off warehouse and parts supermarket with a range of necessities and accessories to support a growing industry.
"Our team of motivated parts interpreters are keen on supporting our customers with counter sales, phone orders, email orders, mobile van sales and deliveries as well as monthly specials.
"We have all new Sales & Management team offices, meeting, training and conference rooms."
The New Truck sales staff at Gilbert & Roach know the transport industry.
"Our quality sales staff will work with you in specifying the correct new truck that best meets your needs," Scott said. "Whether it's a smaller car licensed truck or a multi-trailer, heavy-duty prime mover combination, we will help steer you in the right direction."
Elimination of a highway bottleneck was one of the benefits with the new expansion. With the opening up of the site the company has created three access gates: one from the Pacific Highway and two off Galleghan Close at the rear, and here is plenty of on-site parking and manoeuvring areas for trucks.
