The craft beer market is booming in Australia with consumers no longer loyal to traditional brands and willing to experiment more.

While there is no distinct definition of craft beer, the most common themes include small or private brewers, individual or unique flavours and low production volumes, but above all is the focus on a high quality product.

"Craft beer drinkers aren't afraid to try something new," Andrew Blakemore, manager of Garden Cellars at Pokolbin, said. "Many have favourite beer styles or breweries but also more and more are looking to try new things. Whether that be the style of beer, brewery or the part of the world it's from.

"There are countless breweries and brews out there. Why not try something different?"

Craft beer has exploded over the last five years and Garden Cellars has always tried to carry craft beer since opening in 2011.

"A lot of our sales originally were geared towards international beers but the last three years our sales of Australian craft beers has surged dramatically," Andrew said.

"I can only see this continuing as local breweries continue to enhance their craft and customers' taste for craft beers continues to develop."

The Garden Cellars acts as a cellar door for local Hunter Valley winery Mt Eyre Three Ponds and provides tastings and sales of wine, beer and spirits daily.

It is also famous for its tunnel of beer which is filled with delicious craft beers from around the world.

"Our craft beer range is large to put it mildly with beers from all over Australia and the world," Andrew said.

"It suits everyone from beginners in craft beer to experienced craft beer enjoyers.

"We stock everything from Lagers, Pale Ales, Stouts, Porters, IPA's, New England IPA's, Imperial Stouts, Berliner Weisse and more.

"We pride ourselves on stocking limited releases and exciting new styles.

"That's the great thing about craft beer. There's a never-ending supply of new and interesting things to try."
