Riders took to the air on Saturday in memory of Fern Bay's Jack Lavin Murphy, a champion scooter rider struck down a year ago.
Irish-born Jack, 14, suffered sudden cardiac death on June 2 last year. He was ranked 11th for his age category in Australia.
His parents Siobhan and Robert helped organise the Saturday event, which drew hundreds to the ramps that had been a second home for the popular teenager.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Jack's mother Siobhan said they welcomed 140 competitors from around Australia.
"Jack lived for his scootering and just loved it and everyone loved him - he still has a huge following on Instagram because of his talent for the sport and we wanted to continue this with the event to honour his name.
"We had a shield, the Jack Murphy Memorial Prestigious Award, which is an Annual award and Byron Mitchell from Nelson Bay was awarded that for being an inspiration and great friend to Jack and someone he really looked up to and admired.
"[Jack] would be, in words he would use, OMG this is so sick I'm so stoked."
