Olympic conceded two late goals to lose 4-2 to Weston on Sunday and stay eighth in the NPL on 14 points.
While coming under increasing pressure in the league, Hamilton have enjoyed a dream run in the Cup.
Olympic have racked up big wins after drawing lower-league Hamilton Azzurri and Warners Bay, and next take on Far North Coast side Bangalow on Saturday in the Northern NSW final-eight play-offs at Speers Point. The winners meet for a chance to represent the region in the nationwide round of 32.
Hamilton will be expected to at least make the last four in NNSW, but McGuinness was taking nothing for granted.
"We've had an unbelievable draw really, but still, you've got to beat what's put in front of you," McGuinness said. "You see all over the world at different levels, the tough ones can be when you play away against a massive underdog."
He was hoping a first run into the round of 32 for Hamilton could also spark their NPL campaign.
"We haven't given up on the season," he said. "And the FFA Cup, we're close enough if we're good enough to get through to the round of 32, so it's a big motivation for us to get to that and also to hopefully carry some momentum back into the league."
Scott Pettit is in doubt with neck and back problems and Jed Hornery (knee) is out.
