Newcastle swimmer Meg Bailey won't be going into Australia's World Championship trials with any high expectations but didn't want to miss the upcoming meet having recently returned home from four years at US college.

Bailey, who went to last year's Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, has been training at NSWIS in Sydney since she got back in May and will contest both the women's 200 and 400 metre individual medleys at Brisbane Aquatic Centre from this weekend.
"I just want to see where I'm at," the 22-year-old, who is eyeing off the short course season later in 2019, said.

The PE teaching graduate will line-up alongside fellow Hunter product Abbey Harkin, who is now based at St Peter's Western in the Queensland capital, in the opening heat of the 400IM on Wednesday.
They are in different heats of the 200IM on Sunday.
Harkin also has the 100m breaststroke on Monday, 200m freestyle on Tuesday and 200m breaststroke on Thursday.
Novocastrian and two-time Olympian Thomas Fraser-Holmes continues his comeback with the 200m freestyle against Mack Horton on Monday, the 200IM on Wednesday and 400IM next Friday.
