Freshening onshore winds for today as a small low-pressure system forms off the north coast. Choppy conditions with surf picking up slowly throughout the morning. Shorebreaks have sanded up with long straight gutters. Not many banks about and south facing beaches best on lower tides. First up check South Bar and Merewether. Smaller break in Cowrie. Dudley and South Catho down the coast. One Mile at Port Stephens. Kelp has worked it's way along the Bar to Merewether. Water temperature 18C. - Dave Anderson

HUNTER BOATING
Winds Southwesterly 15 to 20 knots turning southerly 15 to 25 knots during the morning. Winds up to 30 knots offshore south of Norah Head in the late morning. Seas Below 1 metre, to 1 to 2 metres in the morning. 1st Swell Southerly around 1 metre inshore, to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore north of Norah Head in the morning. 2nd Swell Easterly below 1 metre, to 1 to 1.5 metres by early evening.
