Newcastle were rewarded for their win at Tamworth, culminating in a 9-3 win over Central Coast, with 11 players in a 30-man NSW Country Colts squad named on Sunday night.
They squad will attend a joint training camp with the NSW Cockatoos senior side in July before competing at the NSW Gen Blue trials in September. The NSW Country Eagles side for the NRC will then be named.
"I'd really like to think we would have a few pushing for the Eagles NRC side," Creighton said. "If you look at the boys selected for the camp, they are all first graders or on the fringes."
The Cockatoos (seniors) and Corellas (women) squads were also named.
Colts: Jack Allen, Will Archer, Jordan Byfield, Zach Crowley, Jack Johnson-Holmes, Brady Mather, Beau Merrick, Jack Perry, Elias Pettigrew, Zach Robbins, Alex Vaughan.
Corellas: Emma Bradford, Britney Duff, Lakesha Nathan, Leilani Nathan, Nicole Nathan.
Cockatoos: Travis Brooke, Harrison Chapman.
