Heavy rain fell throughout the top-grade round 14 match at Macquarie Field, which had earlier hosted under 20s and 18s games.
The referee twice spoke to the captains in the first half about the boggy surface, which match officials inspected at half-time. The game continued until Blues striker Kane Goodchild went off with a hamstring injury.
If the match, which was 1-1, went another 14 minutes, a result would have stood. Rules state a result counts if 75 per cent of a match is complete when abandoned. The game is to be replayed at Macquarie Field on July 3 but Tanchevski wants it moved.
"The pitch was just horrendous," Tanchevski said.
"You couldn't make one pass out there and I can't see it repairing by next week.
"I said to the referee at half-time that player safety has to be the first consideration on this sort of pitch. I was worried about players getting injured and now we've got Goody out.
"The referees have a duty of care so I think he made the right call, and he probably should have at half-time."
Lake Macquarie coach Nick Webb said "it shouldn't have been called off".
"Goody came off with a hamstring, not because he got hurt in a tackle," Webb said. "The ball wasn't stopping in puddles and we only had 15 minutes to go and it's a game."
Webb said he squad came through the game unscathed.
The Macquarie Field surface has come in for heavy criticism this season and the club attempted mid-season repairs after a lack of grass growth.
