Nurture and Develop Early Childhood is a family owned and operated long-daycare facility at Sandgate providing convenient, quality childcare and an all-inclusive fee.
The 74-place centre located just off Sandgate Road is accessible by major arterial roads into and out of Newcastle, offering a low-fuss drop-off and pick-up option for busy parents commuting into and out of the city.
The business is fully government subsidised and caters to children aged six weeks to six years, 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 50 weeks of the year.
The centre's educational approach is deeply influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy with a strong emphasis on child-led learning, with infant rooms influenced by RIE (Resources for Infant Educarer) and The Pikler philosophy.
Central to the philosophy is Nurture's atelier, or art studio - a custom-designed space for children to explore, experiment, express and learn the language of art and other creative pursuits.
"Art, music, dramatic play and other mediums are all part of the 100 languages of child, according to the Reggio Emilia philosophy," centre spokesperson Absharina Holmes said. "The atelier is an inspiring and captivating space with clay, paint and an array of other materials and art mediums that the children can explore and express their unique imagination and creativity."
Healthy food is another key feature at Nurture and Develop Early Childhood Centre with all meals prepared daily by two dedicated cooks, Kristin and Taylah, in an open kitchen.
Meals are made with fresh locally sourced ingredients with children encouraged to participate in the cooking preparation, table setting and the cleaning up.
"Like the atelier, our open kitchen provides a platform where learning is launched," centre cook spokesperson Kristin Passmore said.
Located at 23 Rural Drive, Sandgate, the centre is fully accredited and currently has vacancies in all age groups.
