PRDnationwide Newcastle and Lake Macquarie are marketing the so-called 'Black House', which reverberates with echoes of great schools such as the Bauhaus movement.
The minimalist masterpiece also drew inspiration from Japanese architecture with Shou Sugi Ban - charred timber cladding - used for the exterior of this one of a kind property.
The home at 21 Flowerdale Avenue in Merewether is the creation of Guy Bunder.

He used Space Design Architecture for the design and engaged his own company Made Architectural Constructions to deliver the luxury residence which was built over four levels to blend perfectly into its natural surrounds.
Inside, a palette of precast concrete walls and polished concrete floors is offset by reclaimed oak feature walls, bespoke metal floating staircases, custom timber cabinetry and vertical green walls all adding colour and texture. It has an internal lift and gas-heated mineral pool .
It will go under the hammer at the Watt Street Commercial Centre at 6pm on Wednesday night with a guide of $2 million to $2.2 million. It is open for inspection on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm.
Also set for auction on Wednesday night is 31 Parkway Avenue, Bar Beach with a guide of $3.2 million. It is on the market for the first time since it was built in the 1940s and is also being sold by PRDnationwide.
