He often receives calls in the dead of night from fans after his mobile number was made public. For the past three years hundreds of fans have travelled to the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui to see Chandler and his partner Tommy Dassalo perform.
The obsession has been created by the Little Dum Dum Club. It's a comedy podcast that for nine years and 456 episodes has been downloaded millions of times and allowed the Melbourne duo to tour Australia, Europe and Thailand.
Picture a bunch of blokes sitting around sharing funny stories and banter and you get the idea. It's simple, but successful.
Chandler says the connection is similar to what listeners experience with popular breakfast radio, except the uncensored and underground nature of podcasts make the link stronger.
"Because it's a podcast and there's no boss saying what we can say," Chandler says. "We do whatever we want and I think there's even more of a connection.
"There's no airs or graces, you can swear and nobody is editing you so I think people connect even more to that.
"We have a really weird connection with our audience. In the classic Australian way we hang a lot of shit on our mates so when we meet the listeners they don't say, 'I can't believe it's you', they just tend to say, 'Hey dickheads', and hang shit on us."
The Little Dum Dum Club has famously over the years been ignored by commercial radio, but it hasn't stopped the likes of big-name comedians Adam Hills, Bill Burr, Wil Anderson, Dave Hughes and Kitty Flanagan appearing on the podcast.
"The whole podcast thing is interesting because we get to have that whole thing happen to us even though there's no radio people tapping us on the shoulder saying, 'You're good'," he says.
"Twenty years ago it couldn't have happened as you were waiting for the big call up from radio."
