Beginning at FogHorn Brewery for the festival prequel Death by Opera, on August 6, festival events then offer the chance to explore our city and beyond in the most interesting and entertaining way.

Newcastle Art Gallery hosts Maria Raspopova in a Chopin piano recital, Opera Cocktails and Firsts with the Cumulus Trio.
The University Gallery is home to two events, Erasure and Flamenco when jazz and Spanish guitar heat up the winter night.
Watt Space Gallery presents Fused mixing art, music, film and ideas.

Christ Church Cathedral can be enjoyed at the Festival Choirs Concert, the Festival Finale and choral concerts Compass: Not All Who Wander Are Lost and You, Me and the Wide Open Sky.
You are also invited to join Peter Guy on the cathedral organ while munching your French fare for Vive la France in one of the Music on a Plate events. The other two are at The Umbrian (Italian Soul) and Momo Wholefood (Gypsy Dreaming).
Find your way to Newcastle City Hall with your children in tow for Animal Tales, also happening at Sacred Spaces Singleton, or enjoy the historical charm of St John's Cooks Hill for a guitar recital Alchemy and guitar masterclass with Andrew Blanch.
Adamstown Uniting Church is also involved, with a mix of vocal recital The Poet, The Music and the Muse, baroque concert Sweeter than Roses, classical concert Twilight Musical Dialogues: Musical Kin - Father and Daughter, tango Nocturna, big band Swing Swing Swing, jazz Shades of Sax Blue, indie folk/pop Lo-Fi and an Opera Soirée.
Islington Baptist Church is home to a vocal masterclass with Miriam Allan.
The Harold Lobb Concert Hall at Newcastle Conservatorium will host The Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra New Constellations plus the Music Teachers Association awards for young pianists.
