The Red Devils are five points behind fourth-placed Merewether and can't afford a slip up.
They wlll take plenty of confidence into battle after winning the club's first major silverware at the State Cup last weekend.
"You don't need any extra motivation for a derby, but it is an important three points for us," Jones said. "We played good football last weekend. Whilst the girls were really happy with the win, the common theme at the end was that we have to continue this form now."
Wallsend beat South Wallsend 3-1 in a catch-up game three weeks ago. Gema Simon didn't play that game for South Wallsend, but Jones is preparing for the Matildas fullback to play on Sunday.
"Last time against them, we played a really high tempo game and pressed high up the pitch," Jones said. "We took that form into the State Cup and are all on the same page with the style of football we want to play. They have been rocked with a few injuries of late. I'd say the minute Gema feels fresh and ready to go she will be on the park."
Elsewhere Sunday, runaway leaders New Lambton host Adamstown Rosebud at Alder Park.
Eagles striker Tara Andrews has been almost unstoppable, scoring 36 goals to lead the race for the golden boot by 10. Eight of her haul have come against Rosebud.
Warners Bay will be out to make amends after going down in the final of the State Cup with a win on the road at Thornton.
Defending premiers Merewether will be out to strengthen their grip on a finals berth with a win over a depleted Mid North Coast at Port Macquarie.
