About 10.15am Thursday a member of the public located a body on rocks about 100 metres off shore near Wybung Head.
Officers from Tuggerah Lake Police District, Marine Area Command and the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter commenced a retrieval operation.
While the body is yet to be identified, it's believed to be that of a 62-year-old man who fell from rocks while rock fishing south of Caves Beach on Sunday.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
